Sumi e is the Japenese ink and water painting technique. Castlemaine Zen held a workshop with Junko dipping into the beautiful form. The shadow is so important, the minimal information, the composition and gestural technique… I hadn’t realised Sumi e already does what I had been exploring in my Dunmoochin watercolour paintings.
